Welcome and thank you for choosing Hunt Military Communities! Now that you’ve settled into your home, we would like to share important information about your home’s energy usage. If you are reading this, you have already committed to being an energy conscious household and we applaud your desire to learn more and do more to make a difference!

As you know there are many different home styles within the Hunt family of neighborhoods, each with its own unique features and benefits. We are here to help you and to ensure you have the right resources available in your pursuit of conservation and utility usage reduction. Your input is vital if you have questions or concerns regarding the major energy consumers in your home. Here are some:

  • Cooling & Heating - Is your furnace or HVAC properly heating/cooling? Does the filter need to be replaced? Is the intake vent blocked? Do you have the A/C set on the highest comfortable setting? Do you have the heater set on the lowest comfortable setting?
  • Major appliances - Is the refrigerator/freezer setting too low? Are the washer and dryer functioning correctly? Have you installed your own additional appliance like a freezer or another refrigerator? Are you cleaning your dryer’s lint trap regularly?
  • Electrical outlets - Are you using timers or power strips and switches to turn them off when not in use? “Phantom loads” can account for up to 20% of your monthly usage!
  • Small appliances - (toaster, coffee maker, blow dryer, etc.) and electronics (game consoles, surround sound, cable and satellite boxes, phone chargers, etc.) are phantoms when plugged in but not in use.
